7 Habits of All Confident Women

Have you seen that one girl, who makes eye contact with everyone she passes on the sidewalk and smiles; the girl who somehow loves herself when the world shows it doesn’t? She can be found in any size department in any store, in any country across the globe. Women with confidence are glowing with self-love and self-worth. Women who exude this confidence make it seem natural, deserved, and effortless.

The confidence you crave doesn’t come in a magic potion or spellbook; it comes from the choices women make every day. Through experience, trial and error, and an ever-growing background in the field of psychology, I can proudly say I’ve figured out the formula for authentic, genuine, sincere, compelling confidence. The type of confidence that doesn’t point out your minuscule flaws or compare you to other women.

Choices don’t only lead confident women to their success; choices can also lead insecure women to poor decision-making skills and misguided personal relationships. You may be thinking:


“But it’s hard for me to be confident because I’m an introvert.”

“I’ve always been shy; there’s no way I could be that carefree.”

“I’m not super insecure; I just don’t exude powerful confidence.”


These are excuses, plain and simple. I’m introverted, I’ve felt insecure and undeserving of worth. But I didn’t let that stop me from pursuing the powerful, authentic confidence I wanted. That’s because I realized that ultimately the choices I made, the habits I nurtured or terminated, were what develops my mental health. The confidence I have is from practice, experience, time, and the overwhelming desire to not give in to comparisons or societal standards.

It’s not impossible to develop healthy, confidence-boosting habits of your own. These habits will shape and mold how you, and others, view your self-worth. Listed below are the seven habits of confident women, choose the habits you can nurture and blow everyone away with your authentic confidence.

1. They Don’t Take Gossip to Heart

Confident women take opinions and hear-say with a grain of salt. Every confident woman knows that not every word, image, gossip, or news article is consistently accurate. People speak without thinking influenced by emotions and past hurt, they extend or retract the truth to make it work for their agenda. This fact is why a confident woman doesn’t take others’ gossip, rumors, and insecurities to heart.

One sneaky tactic emotionally hurt people use to boost their confidence is putting others’ confidence down, women who stand firm in their worth cannot be shaken by anyone else’s insecurity.


2. They Admire Other Women’s Beauty Without Devaluing Their Own

A confident woman can admire another woman’s beauty without devaluing her own.

Compliments don’t have to be back-handed or dripping with envy. Women who have developed their confidence knowing that they can be just as beautiful as another woman, even if they look completely different. Confident women give out genuine compliments regularly because the kindness adds to their self-worth. It’s easy to love yourself when you’re a kind and authentic person!

3. They Admit When They Are Hurting

Another habit of confident women is consistently remaining open and aware of emotions and moods, instead of repressing the ones they don’t like. Repressed feelings don’t go away, just like a financial debt won’t go away if you ignore it. Confidence is most authentic when you can be honest with yourself, even if the emotion is painful to face.

The balance of productivity and downtime can be tricky. On the one hand, you want to squeeze in self-care, so your performance and well-being are in harmony, but on the other hand, you want to get as much done as you possibly can! Confidence is used and built while finding your balance, what works for you will be apparent when you feel most like yourself.

5. They Surround Themselves With a Supportive Circle

Confident women surround themselves with supportive, genuine friends. The kind of friends who encourage and praise each others’ successes without feeling threatened or discouraged. These women lift each other up, provide support without request, and love unconditionally.

You want to find friends who aren’t mean girls, and who don’t tolerate mean girls either! Confident women stand up for their friends while remaining kind, but loyal, the saying really does work: Kill them with kindness!

6. They Make Stress Management A High Priority

In line with self-care, stress management is a high priority for a confident woman. The harmful effects of chronic stress on a person’s body and mind are consistently proven to be deadly. Stress ruins so many aspects of life, and a confident woman knows that although specific pressure is good and even challenging, she doesn’t need to carry its harmful effects on her.

  • Meditation
  • Yoga
  • Running
  • Mindful practices
  • Listening to music
  • Eating the right food
  • Journaling

7. They Know Their Self-Worth

Authentic confidence blooms from the knowledge of oneself and the love that follows. Get to know yourself with reflective journal prompts, a few meditation sessions each week, and self-care. Loving yourself may seem hard at certain times (or all times) but once you become self-aware, falling in love with yourself is the natural response. Other people may not see your worth if you aren’t confidently displaying your self-worth and self-love.

Choose from the habits you feel could improve your confidence and take it from there. I recently got a tattoo that makes me feel confident and powerful, supported and steady at the same time! It’s “petit a petit,” French for ‘little by little.’ Nurture your habits little by little- big changes can be scary and difficult! Eventually, your choices will lead you to the authentic, confident woman you’ve always wanted to be.
